The Salem and Beverly Water Supply Board is aware of the odor and taste concerns raised by residents in Salem and Beverly and is currently working with both municipalities to investigate and address these concerns.
There are several factors that could be affecting the water including the recent heat wave in our area, and increased water demand. The Water Board has completed water sample testing within the Salem and Beverly distribution systems. Those water tests do not indicate any issues with bacteria and the disinfection levels are consistent with past testing.
Additionally, given the feedback from residents, the Water Board has modified its treatment process to address these odor and taste issues.
The Water Board will keep the public up to date as it continues to investigate this issue, and work towards a timely solution.
